Symptoms of a Faulty Boiler Pressure Gauge
- Gauge needle stuck, not moving, or reading zero despite the machine being at temperature
- Gauge reading erratically or fluctuating wildly
- Visible moisture, fogging, or condensation inside the gauge face
- Gauge leaking from the connection point
- Cracked or broken gauge face
How to Replace a Boiler Pressure Gauge
- Turn off and unplug the machine; allow it to cool and fully depressurise
- Remove the machine casing to access the boiler and gauge fitting
- Unscrew the old gauge from the 1/4" BSP boiler connection
- Apply PTFE thread tape to the new gauge’s 1/4" fitting
- Thread in the replacement gauge and tighten firmly — do not overtighten
- Reassemble the casing, power on, and verify the gauge reads correctly at operating pressure (typically 1.0–1.2 bar for steam boilers)
Tip: Always confirm your machine’s production date when ordering — Rocket updated the Type V gauge fitment from August 2019 onwards.
