What Does the High Temperature Limit Switch Do?

The high temperature limit switch is a critical boiler safety component. Under normal operation it remains closed (allowing current to flow to the heating element). If the boiler overheats beyond 130°C — due to a failed thermostat, low water level, or scale buildup — the limit switch trips open, cutting power to the element and preventing damage. Because it is trip-free, it will not reset until the fault is identified and the machine has cooled, preventing accidental restart under unsafe conditions.

When Should You Replace the Temperature Limit Switch?

Replace this limit switch if your La Marzocco machine is showing any of the following: the machine has no heat and the main thermostat tests as functional, the limit switch has tripped and will not reset after cooling, continuity testing across the switch terminals shows an open circuit, or the switch body is visibly damaged or corroded.

Warranty

Our ‘Certified Used’ and second-hand equipment is backed by a three-month parts-free warranty.

Brand new machine comes with a 1-year free parts warranty, but the parts come with a 3-month warranty.

We’ll organise a free repair, replacement, or refund.

Once the equipment is out of warranty, customers are responsible for meeting any repair costs.
