Isomac E61 Silicone Group Seal — Genuine Replacement

The group seal (group gasket) creates a watertight seal between the portafilter and the E61 group head. Over time, heat cycling causes the seal to harden, crack, or deform — leading to leaks around the portafilter during extraction. If you're seeing water dripping from the group head when pulling a shot, or the portafilter feels loose and difficult to lock in, the group seal needs replacing. This is a routine maintenance item recommended every 12–18 months on regularly used machines.

Symptoms of a Worn Group Seal

• Water dripping from around the portafilter during extraction
• Portafilter feels loose or doesn't lock in at the usual position
• Portafilter needs to be pushed further than normal to lock
• Visible cracking, hardening, or deformation of the old seal

Installation Notes

• Always unplug and cool the machine before replacing the group seal
• Remove the shower screen and screen holder to access the old seal
• Use a flathead screwdriver or seal pick to lever out the old seal — take care not to scratch the group head
• Press the new seal in firmly and evenly by hand until fully seated
• Refit the screen holder and shower screen, then run a blank shot (no coffee) to check for leaks before use
