Wega & Astoria Polaris Control Board Fuses Explained — Parts #18090047 & #18090048

If you own or service a Wega New Polaris, Wega Old Polaris, or Astoria espresso machine, understanding the control board fuses can save you time and money when diagnosing faults. The control board on these machines features two fuses — part numbers 18090047 and 18090048 — each protecting a different circuit.

F1 Fuse — 6.3A (Motor Fuse)

The F1 fuse is rated at 6.3 amps and is responsible for protecting the pump motor circuit.

If this fuse keeps blowing, it is a strong indicator that your pump motor has a short circuit. A motor drawing excessive current will repeatedly blow this fuse as a protective measure. Simply replacing the fuse without addressing the root cause will result in the same failure. In this case, the motor should be inspected and replaced by a qualified technician.

F2 Fuse — 500mA (Inlet Solenoid Fuse)

The F2 fuse is rated at 500 milliamps and protects the inlet solenoid valve circuit.

If this fuse keeps blowing, it is highly likely that your inlet solenoid valve has failed. A faulty solenoid drawing excess current will cause this fuse to blow repeatedly. We recommend replacing the inlet solenoid valve to resolve the issue permanently rather than continuing to replace the fuse.
