Markibar Izaga Grinder Cleaning Tutorial: Hopper, Burrs & Dosing Chute
Share
Keep your Markibar Izaga grinder clean by removing retained coffee from the hopper, dosing tube and burr chamber. This guide follows the cleaning procedure in the Markibar Izaga manual and includes a video tutorial for visual reference. Check your exact model’s manual before dismantling parts.
Safety first: Empty the grinding chamber while the grinder is fully assembled, then switch off and unplug before cleaning or removing parts. Never put fingers or tools into a powered grinder. Do not spray the grinder with water or wet the burrs, motor or electrical components. Electrical repairs must be performed by a qualified technician.

Markibar Izaga replacement burrs
Cleaning removes retained coffee but cannot restore worn burr edges. If grinding performance remains poor after cleaning and adjustment, have the burrs inspected. Confirm compatibility with your model before ordering.
Markibar Izaga Standard Burrs
Standard replacement burrs, listed with a 600kg+ coffee rating. Actual replacement needs depend on wear and use.
Markibar Izaga Long Life Burrs
Long-life replacement option for higher-volume use. Check your model and existing burr specification.
What you need
- Soft grinder-cleaning brush
- Markibar dosing-tube cleaning stick and grinding-chamber tunnel cleaning tool
- Suitable vacuum cleaner for dry coffee residue
- Clean cloth and mild soap for the removed hopper only
- 5mm Allen key for the hopper retaining screw, plus the correct Allen key for the adjustment stop
1. Empty the chamber, then unplug
With the grinder fully assembled, close the hopper bean gate and grind the remaining coffee from the chamber into a portafilter. Switch off and unplug the grinder before proceeding. If it is jammed, humming or failing to start, stop rather than forcing it to run.
2. Remove and clean the hopper
Loosen the hopper retaining screw. Pull and turn the hopper fixing device to its release position as shown in the manual, then remove the hopper and empty the remaining beans. Clean the removed hopper with soap and a water-dampened cloth to remove coffee oils. Dry it thoroughly before refitting. Keep water away from the grinder body and burr chamber.
3. Clean the dosing tube
With the grinder unplugged, remove the rubber cap giving access to the dosing tube. Insert the designated cleaning stick and move it up and down to clear retained coffee. Remove the stick through the bottom of the dosing tube and refit the rubber cap. Do not leave any cleaning tool inside the grinder.
4. Open the burr chamber
Follow your model’s manual to loosen the CE adjustment stop with an Allen key. Press the grind-adjustment buttons and turn the adjustment assembly anticlockwise to unscrew and remove it. Keep the stop and its screw safe. If the assembly will not release as described, do not force it.
5. Brush and vacuum out retained coffee
Use the grinding-chamber tunnel cleaning tool to push retained coffee into the dosing tube. Brush or vacuum the remaining dry coffee from the burrs, chamber and removed adjustment assembly. Take care not to vacuum up the small grind-adjustment nipples. Avoid the sharp burr edges. Do not wash the burrs or chamber with water.
6. Reassemble without cross-threading
Seat the adjustment assembly carefully. Turn it slightly anticlockwise until the thread engages, then turn clockwise to screw it in. It should fit easily; never force the thread. Refit the CE stop. Reinstall the completely dry hopper, engage the fixing device and secure the retaining screw with the 5mm Allen key. Check that all parts are secure and all tools have been removed before reconnecting power.
7. Check the grind and dose
Once fully reassembled, check grinder operation and dial in your espresso again as needed. Stop and arrange service if you hear abnormal noises or the motor struggles to start.
Related repair part: Markibar motor capacitor
A motor capacitor is not a cleaning consumable. Humming, slow starting or tripping requires proper diagnosis, not automatic capacitor replacement. Capacitors can retain an electrical charge after unplugging; leave testing and replacement to a qualified technician.
Markibar Motor Capacitor 16µF
For professionally diagnosed motor faults. Confirm the required specification and model compatibility.
Frequently asked questions
Can I spray the grinder with water?
No. Wipe the outside with a damp cloth and use a brush for recessed areas. Do not use abrasive products, alcohol or solvents on the body. Only clean the removed hopper as described, drying it fully before refitting.
Does cleaning mean the burrs do not need replacing?
No. Cleaning removes residue; worn burrs still need inspection and replacement. The Markibar manual recommends checking burr condition at least annually, with servicing appropriate to use.
Why does the adjustment assembly feel tight during reassembly?
Stop and check that the thread is properly engaged. Do not force it. If it still will not seat easily, seek service assistance.
